Privacy Policy

Overview

Universal AI Sync ("we," "our," or "us") is a Chrome browser extension that lets you transfer conversations between AI platforms — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot — without leaving your browser.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We built Universal AI Sync with privacy as a core principle: your AI conversations never leave your device and are never sent to our servers.

Core commitment

Conversation content is processed entirely within your browser using Chrome's local extension APIs. We do not read, store, or transmit any part of your AI conversations.

Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the Pro license tier and deliver your license key.

Email address

When you purchase a Pro subscription, you provide an email address through our PayPal checkout. We use this address solely to:

  • Deliver your license key after a successful purchase
  • Send subscription-related notifications (e.g., renewal confirmations, cancellation confirmations)
  • Respond to support requests you initiate

We do not use your email for marketing unless you separately opt in, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

License key

A unique license key is generated for each Pro purchase and stored in our database. When the extension validates your license, it sends the key to our server to confirm it is active. The server returns a yes/no response. No other data from your device is sent during this check.

PayPal subscription ID

When you subscribe to Pro Monthly or Pro Yearly, PayPal provides us with a subscription identifier. We store this identifier so we can process renewals, cancellations, and refunds. We do not store your full payment details — those remain on PayPal's servers.

Anonymous usage diagnostics (optional)

We may collect non-identifiable crash or error reports to improve extension stability. This data contains no conversation content, no browsing URLs, and no personally identifiable information. It is never linked to your identity.

Data We Never Collect

What we do not see

The items below are processed locally in your browser only. They are never sent to Universal AI Sync servers under any circumstances.

  • Conversation content — the text, code, and context you sync between AI platforms stays entirely on your device. It is read from one browser tab and injected into another, all within Chrome's local extension sandbox.
  • Browsing history — we do not record which websites you visit, which AI platforms you use, or how often you use the extension.
  • AI platform credentials — we have no access to your ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot login credentials or account data.
  • Device information — we do not collect your IP address, hardware identifiers, operating system version, or Chrome version for identification purposes.

Chrome Permissions Explained

Universal AI Sync requests the following Chrome permissions. Each is required for the extension to function and is used only for its stated purpose.

Permission Why it's needed
tabs Lets the extension detect which AI platform tabs are currently open (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot) so you can choose a source and destination. Tab URLs are read locally and are never sent to our servers.
scripting Allows the extension to read conversation content from the source tab and inject it into the destination tab. This is the core sync mechanism — it happens entirely within Chrome, with no network request to our servers.
storage Used to save your preferences (e.g., last selected source/destination AI) locally via chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device.

We request the minimum permissions required. We do not request history, bookmarks, cookies, webRequest, or broad host permissions beyond the four supported AI platforms.

How We Use Your Data

The limited personal data we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • License delivery — sending your Pro license key to the email address provided at checkout.
  • License validation — verifying that a license key is active when the extension checks in. The check is a simple key-lookup and returns no personal data.
  • Subscription management — processing renewals, cancellations, and refunds via PayPal using the stored subscription ID.
  • Customer support — responding to emails you send to our support address.

We do not use your data for profiling, behavioral advertising, or any purpose beyond those listed above.

Data Storage & Security

Personal data (email addresses, license keys, and PayPal subscription IDs) is stored on our backend infrastructure hosted on Railway with a Supabase PostgreSQL database. Both services apply industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and TLS encryption in transit.

We retain your email address and associated license data for as long as your subscription is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to handle support requests or refund claims. You may request deletion at any time (see Contact Us).

Local extension data stored via chrome.storage.local (preferences) exists only on your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

PayPal

Payments are processed by PayPal. When you purchase a Pro subscription, PayPal collects and processes your payment information under PayPal's Privacy Policy. We receive only the subscription ID and payer email from PayPal — we never see your card or bank details.

Railway

Our API server is hosted on Railway. Railway may process server logs as part of infrastructure operations. See Railway's Privacy Policy.

Supabase

Our database is hosted on Supabase, which provides PostgreSQL-as-a-service. Stored data is encrypted at rest. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Google Fonts

The landing page (universalaisync.com) loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, which may log your IP address as part of the font delivery. The extension itself does not use Google Fonts. See Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not integrate analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.) into the extension or the landing page.

Payments & Subscriptions

Universal AI Sync offers two paid plans in addition to the free tier:

  • Pro Monthly — $4.99 / month, billed monthly via PayPal
  • Pro Yearly — $48 / year ($4 / month), billed annually via PayPal

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through your PayPal account. Upon cancellation, Pro features remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 7 days of purchase at danielfdd2004@gmail.com and we will do our best to make it right.

Payment security

We never store your credit card number, bank account details, or full PayPal credentials. All payment processing is handled exclusively by PayPal on their encrypted infrastructure.

GDPR Rights (EEA & UK Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR:

  • Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — you may request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — you may request deletion of your personal data. We will comply unless retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).
  • Right to restriction — you may request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability — you may request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — you may object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

Our legal basis for processing your email and payment data is contract performance — we need this data to deliver the service you purchased. We do not rely on consent for processing that is necessary to fulfil your order.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at danielfdd2004@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

CCPA Rights (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights:

  • Right to know — you may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
  • Right to delete — you may request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to opt out of sale — we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

To submit a CCPA request, email us at danielfdd2004@gmail.com with "CCPA Request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.

Children's Privacy

Universal AI Sync is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify active Pro subscribers by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.

Continued use of the extension after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
